Ann Curry

Ann Curry is a photojournalist writer, journalist, and photographer who has covered war zones for the past more than 45 years. Her focus is on human suffering as well as disasters. Curry has reported on wars all over the globe, and has reported on conflicts in Kosovo Iraq Syria Lebanon Palestine Afghanistan Darfur Congo. Ann Curry, (born November 19 1956 Agana American journalist, television anchor and news reporter who was most well-known for her work as a correspondent for the Today program, which was a morning news show that was telecast by the National Broadcasting Co. (NBC). Curry became known in particular for her reporting on catastrophes caused by natural causes and humanitarian crises that occurred within war-torn areas. Curry is the daughter of an U.S. Navy sailor and a Japanese woman. Her father dated his mother in Japan when he was a stationed there after World War II. Due to her father's military duty, the family travelled frequently. Curry completed her high school in Ashland Oregon. Curry graduated in 1978 with an undergraduate degree in journalism in the University of Oregon. She was exposed to different cultures and environments during her growing up years probably contributed to her empathy that she has for global issues. The couple relocated frequently so Curry did not remain in one school for more than two years traveling to various places like San Diego Alameda Oregon and Virginia. Ashland was her final high school. She paved her way for a successful career when she began her broadcasting career as an intern in KTVL Channel 10 in Medford Oregon. She later became the first female news reporter at the station at the age of 22. Then she was promoted to anchoring and reporting at KGW, an NBC-affiliated station located in Portland. Then, four years later she moved to Los Angeles and became a reporter for KCBS TV. The two Emmy Awards were won during her time with the KCBS-TV.
